The Red Poppy & the Sun is a visual diary of Albania’s past and present, 35 years after the end of communism, through a personal and intimate lens. 

Touching on themes such as the legacy of communism, immigration, social inequality, and the impacts of neoliberalism, the project aims to bridge the gap between Albania’s past and present through my family’s lived experiences. It is also a story of resilience through political and economic instability.

This work illustrates the passage of time and illuminates how political systems affect the lives of everyday people.
